The
CFCN Fund operated for five years (1996-2001) and
invested $7M in the Alberta industry in the form
of equity investments, scriptwriting and producer
development loans, and professional development
grants. The Independent Production Fund now administers
the distribution reports and recoupment from CFCN
funded projects, investing all recouped funds back
into the development of the Alberta film and television
industry.
The
Independent Production Fund was created in 1990
with a mandate to encourage the production of dramatic
television series produced by independent producers
for private broadcasters. The IPF also undertakes
the administration of other private funds including
the Cogeco Program Development Fund, the Bell Broadcast
and New Media Fund, the CFCN Production Fund, and
the Videon Fund.
