2001: NOTICE OF GUIDELINE CHANGES

For immediate release December 2000 - The Board of Directors approved two changes to its operations and application eligibility in order to respond to industry funding requirements.

(i) Due to the weighted demand for funding in the first quarter of the year, the IPF has combined its late summer and fall deadlines. Therefore, there will now be THREE (3) deadlines per year.

February 15, April 15, October 1

(ii) The number of applications to the IPF for drama series has increased significantly in the last couple of years, resulting in a decrease in the ratio of funded projects to applications reviewed. Therefore, the Board has revised the eligibility criteria for programming intended as adult primetime drama series in order to focus on hour-long drama. Eligible series must be produced with episodes of 60 minutes running time. Series of 30 minutes running time intended for adult audiences will not be eligible for funding. Note that this new regulation does not apply to childrens/youth/family programming. Thirty-minute series in second or subsequent seasons which have previously received investments from the IPF will be “grandfathered” and will remain eligible for continued funding.
