We are happy to announce plans to grow the Wip portal to make it a hub for quality Canadian dramatic web series content. We started Wip with the goal of featuring all of the IPF funded web series in one place. Now – with our recent website redesign – we have decided to expand our scope.
The IPF Board of Directors approved funding for 15 scripted drama series (10 English / 5 French) designed and produced for exploitation on the web and is making equity investments of $1.5 M in these projects. This unique funding program, which was created in 2010 is encouraging experimentation and evaluating potential for high quality, story driven drama for web audiences.
On Friday April 6th a few lucky fans will get a sneak peek of the highly anticipated second episode at the PAX East conference in Boston. Space Janitors will be part of The Escapist Movie Night held at the Wyvern Theatre. The night will feature never-before-seen videos from The Escapist’s most popular web series, a panel discussion with the web series creators and the special premiere of Space Janitors episode 2.
Whew, what a month here at the IPF offices. For our March 1 Phase 1 deadline we received 153 applications for our web series production program. It was a blast to read all the amazing ideas folks have. We got a variety of submissions ranging from epic time travelling space adventures and doggy weddings to heartfelt last moments and choose your own adventure thrillers. We had the very difficult job of narrowing down the submissions to 31 projects to move on to the second phase of applications. The projects selected to move forward have until May 1 to submit more in-depth, longer applications.
The second weekend of March found fans of all things superhero, alternate reality, web series and so much more descending on the Metro Toronto Convention centre. Among the attractions were IPF funded web series Tights & Fights and Guidestones
