1996 Activities Report

The Maclean Hunter Television Fund supported the launch of eight new series this year. In addition, the MHTV Fund encourages series in their second or subsequent seasons which have a proven track record, through high audience ratings, critical acclaim or international sales. Five series were judged to have met these standards and qualified for the continued support of the MHTV Fund. In 1996 the MHTV Fund invested in 6 series produced in Quebec, 4 Ontario-based productions and 3 from British Columbia. We partnered with 7 different broadcasters this year to bring these series to Canadian audiences. For the first time, no funding was approved for any new pilots.
